Beautiful cabinets, attractive paint colours, and trendy furnishings can make a great space, but dirty and grubby equipment can spoil everything. Fortunately, the pristine kitchen of your dreams is within striking distance. Cleaning appliances only requires a small amount of time and effort. From your stove to your microwave and refrigerator, these step-by-step instructions will help you have spotless appliances in no time.
1. Clean Your Refrigerator Thoroughly
Remove all food from the refrigerator and discard anything that has gone bad or expired. Remove any removable drawers, shelves, and other parts. Clean any detachable parts with warm, soapy water and then properly dry them. Inside doors and walls should be cleaned with a soft cloth and a water-vinegar solution.
2. Cleaning and filtering your dishwasher
Remove the bottom rack to get to the dishwasher filter.
The filter should be gently removed and cleaned using a soft cloth and warm, soapy water. Please give the filter a thorough rinse before replacing it. Add an Affresh dishwashing tablet to the detergent dispenser or the top rack of a dishwasher-safe container filled with vinegar. To avoid odours and maintain good operation, repeat the hottest cycle as needed.
3. Cleaning your Microwave
Heat water in a microwave-safe bowl. Cook, uncovered until the water boils. You should be able to easily clean the surface now that the caked-on food has been released.
4. Washing machine and dryer cleaning
Run the longest cycle at the maximum temperature, with two cups of vinegar added to the machine drum. When the cycle is ended, mix 1/4 cup vinegar with a quart of warm water. Before cleaning, remove the soap dispenser and soak it in the vinegar and water solution. If you have a front loader, clean the rubber seal and the inside of the machine with a sponge and toothbrush saturated in the solution. Run one more cycle at the highest and longest settings without adding vinegar or detergent.
Clean the lint trap (the chamber where the screen or filter rests) on a regular basis, as well as the lint screen or filter before each load of laundry in the dryer. Dryer brushes that can bend to fit within the trap chamber are available at home improvement stores.
5. Keeping tiny appliances clean
Be mindful of their diminutive size; small kitchen devices can be just as valuable as larger ones. Furthermore, despite their modest size, they attract a lot of dirt. After each use, wipe down small appliances and perform more comprehensive cleanings. How frequently is determined by the frequency of use. Make use of a little toothbrush to clean the item’s undersides and crevices. Additionally, while cleaning, make sure the device is turned off.
Make a list of the items you can clean as part of your routine as part of a mindful reset. Consider how you can incorporate a few small cleaning breaks into your regular routine over the next few days or weeks using the time you have today, wherever you are. While mentally going through a typical week in your kitchen, try to think of as many small cleaning moments as you can. Stick your list on the refrigerator as a reminder to mark stuff off as you go.
